Mara Stefan

President and Founder

Mara brings more than 20 years of strategy and communications experience to role of President of Emerge PR, an agency she founded in 2005. During her tenure with Emerge, she has developed and implemented hundreds of communications programs for her clients.

Mara has supported and spoken at the Harvard Business School’s annual Cyberposium Tech Conference; served on the advisory board and provided sponsorship for Future Forward, the New England Technology Summit; and sponsored the several Nantucket Conferences. She was recognized in the 2004/2005 edition of Strathmore’s Who’s Who for leadership in her field as well as Cambridge Who’s Who for 2012-2013 Honor’s Edition. She has authored several articles and guest lectured at Boston University.

Prior to Emerge PR, she spent 11 years with Horn Group, Inc., a leading technology communications firm, where she launched the company’s Boston office in 1996. While serving as a partner, Mara drove PR and marketing strategy for hundreds of emerging growth companies. She also provided strategic counsel to well-known market leaders including InnoCentive, Cognos, Harte-Hanks, Netegrity, PeopleSoft, and Sophos among others. Mara also worked with best-selling business book authors – Geoffrey Moore for Crossing the Chasm and Inside the Tornado as well as Patricia Seybold for Customers.com and The Customer Revolution – to elevate each to a position of thought leader in the business sector.

Earlier in her career, Mara held marketing communications positions at Borland International, and various account management positions with Miller Communications and Hastings & Humble Public Relations.

Mara holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX, where she majored in advertising and public relations. Mara is the proud mother of two boys and is an avid equestrian.
